“I love it when a plan comes together”! The next two phases of of Newinbosch have been completed and are ready for the top structures to commence. The original design model and the finished product are basically identical so credit must be given to the incredible teams from Raubex Building (Pty) Ltd and Similan Group for putting these together and allowing the neighbourhood to grow.

Some projects are unforgettable . . . and this was one of them. Fortnightly flights to Dubai for site inspections, QC, contractor training and client meetings . . . and it has shown itself to be living proof that the right product, proper concrete mix design and high levels of workmanship give a designed solution that lasts the test of time. The walls are designed with a coloured tell-tale set at a fixed dimension above foundation level as a visual warning that beach rehabilitation needs attention. South African designed solution . . . New Structure Alert!! Recently commenced construction on the incredibly exciting Lifestyle Centre at De Aanzicht for Balwin Properties. I do however find it somewhat ironic that the majority of the detail design (from a structural perspective) will never been seen by the general public. Sure the views from up top across to Table Mountain are nothing short of phenomenal and the end product with the cliff hanging pool and world class penthouses are going to be amazing.

When building residential units over a parking level, we have often been asked by our clients which is the best solution – a full RC frame or a transfer slab with load bearing brickwork and precast. More often than not it comes down to the skill set of the Contractor. We now have the opportunity to watch two developments of similar size where the suspended slabs over the parking area were cast within a week of each other. The Radley is a transfer deck and Alxndr is full RC frame.
